(Englewood, Colorado, USA) – This May, Applied Control’s community-service team (Ace of Hearts) partnered with Bonfils Blood Center and hosted company-wide blood drive. Organizers commandeered half of the Applied Control’s new training room to set up the mobile donation center for employees and friends to donate.
The event was our biggest yet, collecting 34 units of blood, and positively impacting over 102 lives in Colorado. We exceeded our previous blood drive by one unit, and attribute this success to our ever growing workforce. Typically, Ace of Hearts hosts two blood drives per year in the office. The next drive will be hosted in the fall of 2014. Perhaps we can set an even bigger record then!
Today, Bonfils Blood Center has become an important part of the healthcare system throughout Colorado. Their headquarters are in Denver in the Lowry redevelopment area and they have nearly 400 employees including phlebotomists, apheresis and donor laboratory technicians, accounting, human resources and communication professionals who work at Bonfils each day to make a difference in our community. Bonfils now operates in seven community donor centers, serves nearly 200 healthcare facilities in Colorado and beyond, collects nearly 143,000 units of blood annually and offers a variety of services to better meet the needs of the community, including the Colorado Marrow Donor Program.
“I’m grateful to work for an organization that values giving back to the community in as many diverse and impactful ways as Applied Control does. The blood drive is one of my favorite activities; I don’t just do it for the cookies either. They’re good, but being able to take a small amount of time out of your day to save lives, now that’s big.” – Applied Control Employee
