Last Wednesday, September 4th, Applied Control hosted our semi-annual blood drive for Bonfils Blood Centers in Colorado. The blood drive was a fantastic success, with 7-first time donors, as well as many others, we were able to donate 33 units of blood, effectively helping 99 people in Colorado. This was our best blood drive to-date!
The blood drive was coordinated by Applied Control’s community focused committee, ACE of Hearts. ACE of Hearts is our employee powered, company-sponsored committee dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of others within our community. Whether we commit time or finances, our goal is to provide support to local non-profit organizations that are in need of assistance, specifically those which support health and community well being.
Today, Bonfils Blood Center has become an important part of the healthcare system throughout Colorado. Their headquarters are in Denver in the Lowry redevelopment area and they have nearly 400 employees including phlebotomists, apheresis and donor laboratory technicians, accounting, human resources and communication professionals who work at Bonfils each day to make a difference in our community. Bonfils now operates in seven community donor centers, serves nearly 200 healthcare facilities in Colorado and beyond, collects nearly 143,000 units of blood annually and offers a variety of services to better meet the needs of the community, including the Colorado Marrow Donor Program.
Applied Control looks forward to our next drive, which will likely take place in early 2014.
