Cavitation Control

Cavitation control trim constructions are designed to eliminate, or minimize the damaging effects of cavitating applications.  Various trim constructions exist for cavitating applications, with selection being dependent on the relative process fluid.  All cavitation control trims are designed to stage the total pressure drop of a given application in a way that will provide maximum flow efficiency and trim life.

Clean Service Cavitation Control

Clean service is considered to be a fluid free of particulate that may potentially become lodged in the flow passages of the valve trim.

Fisher® CavitrolTM III Clean Service Trims

CavitrolIII trims are used for cavitating liquid applications in various globe valve bodies. Cavitrol III trims are frequently used in pump recirculation and startup systems in the power, process, oil production, chemical refining, and other industries.

Fisher® CavitrolTM IV Clean Service Trims

Cavitrol™  IV trim in a Fisher®CAV4 control valve is designed specifically for liquid applications, such as boiler feedwater recirculation, where pressure drops are above 3000 psi and cavitation is a problem.

Fisher® Micro-Flat Cavitation Trim

Fisher®Micro-Flat Cavitation trim is designed for flow down applications only and is designed to control where cavitation occurs to minimize trim damage. Micro-Flat Cavitation trim features a protected seat design to maximize seat life in cavitating environments.

Typical Application: Hydrocarbon: Lean Glycol, Recycle Gas Knockout Drum, Filter Separator, Vacuum Tower Bottoms, Sour Water Level Control

Dirty Service

Dirty service applications are known to contain entrained particulate that would clog the flow passages of trim that this designed for use in clean service.

Fisher® 461 Valve  Sweep-Flow Dirty Service Valve

The Fisher 461 Sweep-Flo valve, is a self-cleaning, increased outlet, angle valve that features a venturi-type throat, which is useful where high pressure drops, slurries or flashing might exist. It is typically used in the hydrocarbon, power and chemical industries.

Typical Application: Hydrocarbon: Reactor letdown, High pressure separator, High and low pressure separator letdown, Cold and hot high pressure separator, Fractioner slurry letdown. 
  Also used in select applications in the power, chemical, and gasification industries.
Fisher® Dirty Service Trim (DST)

Fisher®Dirty Service Trim (DST) is a multi-stage (2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 stage) anti-cavitation trim used with a variety of control valves. It is used in severe services where the fluid may have entrained particulate that could plug the passages in or cause erosion damage to conventional anti-cavitation trims. DST is frequently used in high pressure drop applications up to 4200 psi in the chemical, refining, oil and gas production, and power industries.

Typical Application: Hydrocarbon: CHPS Sour Water letdown, Produced Water injection, Hot High pressure separator, Cold high pressure separator, charge pump spillback, transfer pump, pump recirculation, vacuum tower bottoms

Fisher® Dirty Service Trim-G (DST-G) For Out-Gassing Applications

Fisher® Dirty Service Trim for out-gassing applications (DST-G) is a multi-stage (2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 stage) anti-cavitation trim. It is used in services where the fluid has dissolved gases within the fluid that come out of solution due to a reduction in pressure and may also contain entrained particulate. DST-G is frequently used in high pressure drop applications up to 2500 psi in the refining and oil and gas industries.
